Pink Saturday with a twist

Here we are at the last Pink Saturday before Christmas. Where does the time go. This week Beverly at How Sweet the Sound has asked us to think about family traditions.
Christmas eve evening for us as children meant a trip around the block to my Nana's house where we would be given our presents and we'd have a wee drink. Well the grown ups did we kids probably got juice. Anyway it always meant that it wasn't long until Santa came and that's when I think the excitement started. A childhood quote from those days was my Nana saying a toast "Here's to temperance" and my dad replying "perish the thought".
Christmas eve also meant a very rare trip to the Chinese takeaway as the turkey was in the oven. It's a tradition we still have in our family today. This year we're going out for a Chinese buffet lunch. can't wait.

Also on the agenda for today is this little mini book I'm giving away. I will provide any title you like to go on the front, you just need to let me know. To be in with a chance of winning just leave a comment and I'll enter your name in the draw. If you'd like to become a follower then you can be entered twice. I'll draw the name on Christmas eve and post out after Boxing Day.

I hope you're all ready for Christmas and that it will be a quiet, peaceful time for you all.

  1. Liz, I just read about this tradition on Ruth's blog, and like I told her, I think it's a great idea. My cousin had a takeout party with Chinese food for all of our friends who had come home for Christmas, and it was such fun!

I love your little book. You and Ruth are both so creative and sweet to offer such great gifts as a prize.

I'm a follower already, and I am proud to be!

    Happy Pink Saturday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  8. Another person with the Chinese food on Christmas Eve. I wish my family had more people who like Chinese. We always have bacon and egg sandwiches.

  9. Liz, we used to do Chinese take-out for New Year's Eve . . . seems like a very versatile thing to do! LOL!

It is amazing how the weather can be so different even a few miles away. We got 17 inches of snow last week . . . it took us three and a half hours to shovel out!

Your mini-books are beautiful and I'd love the chance to win one. I'm already a follower and enjoy my visits to you!

Have a blessed and safe Christmas and Happy Pink Saturday!

    Blessings,
    Teresa

  12. I just read about this tradition too on Ruth's blog. And I will say the same thing...we have the best Chinese take-out up the road a bit and it's called "allen's". LOL...go figure. But the food is wonderful! I would love to be entered in your drawing. Happy Pink Saturday and Merry Christmas.

  13. Liz, Happy PiNk Saturday to you. :0) I enjoy reading about family traditions. The Chinese meal is really neat....I really don't need a holiday to eat at those buffets..hehe :0) The tiny sugared cookies/donuts (not sure what they are really called)...well, they really can't make enough of those!

The wee book is too cute...please enter me twice for your giveaway...I've got to check to see if I'm a follower..if not, I will be in a moment!

Thanks so much for visiting me...I always enjoy reading your sweet comments.
