After reading a short story called The Bake Off by Susan Willis (in honour of The Great British Bake Off being back on TV) I thought I'd go for something completely different.
I noticed on Kindle that J K Rowling's novel The Casual Vacancy was only a few pounds so thought I'd give it a bash.
So far one person has died and everyone seems to be pleased about it..............................
A BIG NOVEL ABOUT A SMALL TOWN ...
When Barry Fairbrother dies in his early forties, the town of Pagford is left in shock.
Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils ... Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

Simply a Moment - August 2013
It's 6.20am, Friday 16 August 2013.
The sun is just starting to appear on the sides of buildings.
The village is awake.
I can see Winding Walks through the window as I type. Yesterday you couldn't even see the hill.
I've got some washing on along with the kettle and I'm wondering what to do today.
I've got three days left before going back to work after the six weeks summer holidays.
Do I pop into town for some retail therapy or do I stay and hide away in my craft space?
Decisions, decisions.

Planting inspiration
Spent some time this weekend looking for inspiration for my new raised beds.
There's so much to choose from. Where do I start?

New Stash
I'm just wondering if I bought enough scrapbooking things home with me from Orlando. It's a good job there isn't a Michael's around here or I'd have to get two jobs to pay for everything :0)
I've just noticed that there are some things on the desk that aren't in the photo. Oops. Maybe I did go a little overboard. But in my defence, a lot of things were in the sale :0)

Dieting
Why is it, that it can take months to lose weight, yet it takes five minutes to put it back on? Why is it that some people can eat what they like and not put on weight, yet others have to constantly battle to keep the pounds off?
After four weeks of the school holidays, not watching what I eat, indulging in chocolate because I could and generally not eating too healthily, I'm feeling a little stodgy around the middle.
According to Weight Watchers I'm slap bang in the middle of the range for my height etc but I still feel over weight.
Today, as they say, is the day. The day when I take myself in hand and start to eat properly again. I've managed many times before and can do so again.
Here's to salads and fresh fruit. To healthy snacks and to less chocolate. Ican't don't want to cut it out all together as you have to have something to look forward to in the middle of all that greenery.
Onwards and upwards :0)

Hello Monday
Well hello again.
This week I am saying
Hello to it being a week since we started our trip home from Florida. Wish I was back in that pool.
Hello to two weeks left of the summer holidays.
Hello to the Teenager getting his results tomorrow. Don't know who's more nervous.
Hello to a trip to the Orthodontist in Aberdeen for a retainer check. Can't have many more to do now.
Hello to a little shopping whilst in Aberdeen. It's a long way to go and not do any shopping :0)
Hello to catching up a little housework (and I mean a little).
Hello to doing some scrapbooking.
How's your week looking?

Scavenger Hunt 2013
I've managed to snap quite a few whilst on holiday so without further a do I give you....
#2 - A Theatre for Performing Arts - Dinsey theatre at the Magic Kingdom. I'm sure the cast members in there must do a lot of performing every day.
#4 - An Aeroplane - This is the KLM plane we got from Amsterdam to Atlanta. I can highly recommend KLM. I literally ate my way across the Atlantic.
#5 - A Sunset - This was taken from the front of the villa. We had sunsets like this most nights.
#7 - A Sign that is intentionally or unintentionally funny - A sign in the lake at Celebration. Can't say I've ever had the urge to harass an alligator.
#11 - An Animal in a zoo, aquarium, nature reserve etc - Loved these Zebras at Animal Kingdom.
#16 - A windmill - This was just inside the entrance at Islands of Adventure.
#19 - A fisherman - You can just see a guy fishing behind the sign post. If I see another fisherman between now and September I'll add another photo.
And that's your lot for now. If you'd like to see who else has been snapping away at things this summer, pop over to Gallo Organico where the lovely Rinda has a linky you can look at.

Back to normal
We're home again after a fun filled, two weeks in Florida. It was hot, humid and busy but it was good fun.
Now it's back to normality. Mum went home today and I attacked the washing and the tidying up.
John, who is never one to sit still attacked the garden!! He's had an idea in his head for decking and grass and being John, once he has an idea he has to roll with it. Shame it's raining :0)
