Resolutions of 2011

I only had two resolutions last year....

1.  Not to buy anymore books.  I managed to read my way through last year by re-reading books I already had, borrowing from the library, reading books I had been given as presents and borrowing books from my Mum.

2.  Not to kill my one and only plant.  I only have one plant in the house as I tend to kill them off, either with neglect or over watering.  Last year I manged to not only get my Orchid to survive but to get it to grow.  It had 5 flowers on it when I bought it in a local supermarket and when they died off I thought that was it.  It though, had other ideas and decided to grow an extra 16 flowers for me which are still blooming now on my kitchen window sill.

I have also had two new Orchids bgought for me as presents so I'm hoping that 2012 will produce lots more lovely blooms.

  1. Orchids are tricky unless you happen upon the perfect spot ~ ours is also the kitchen window, as you know. It's also lucky that they can survive on neglect!

  2. They are about the only plant I can't kill off completely but yours are looking mighty fine :0)

  3. Orchids are the only thing I can grow (and keep alive). I have 6 on my kitchen window sill, two are in flower at the moment and all the others have buds about ready to open :) x

  4. It's obviously pleased that you took it home from the supermarket. They look fabulous, which is more thn can be said about my poinsettia!

  6. I can't help but buy books...now wishing I had a Kindle like everyone else as there are piles of them all over the house but I still think I would miss a 'real' book!!

  7. let me know how the "not killing the plant part goes," I have killed so many orchids that I lost track. I have tried everything. A lady once told me to put 5 blocks of ice once per week around the roots, needless to say it didn't work.
